Meanwhile - thank you for allowing me a break in my "normal" art posting. Please look around my blog and be sure to enter my ART Give-Away contest a couple of posts below :)
I was a consultant on a reclamation project in Willoughby, Ohio several years back - where a pathetic old building was being given new life and now serves as a Bed and Breakfast. A few of the walls had to be moved/removed and I was able to reclaim some original 1884 framing lumber. Remember when 2x4 actually meant 2” x 4” ? (me neither ha ha) - At one time dimensional lumber was actually the dimension it was referred to! I have taken a few actual 2x4 boards that were unable to be used any other way in the lengths at hand - and I salvaged them into chubby chunks to paint on. Some of them still reveal ghosts of where the plaster and lathe attached to them.They are rough, have nail holes, scars, and fabulous character. Check them out in my ETSY shop!

Size: 1" x 2" pendant on a white 18" suede cord with clasps
Type: Exceptional DOMINO ART PENDANT NECKLACE
Mixed media (painting, collage, glaze effects)
Ingredients: domino, acrylic paints (many many many layers), antique crackle medium, glazes, collage image, ric rac ribbon/or lace, findings, metallic paint, and love
I have taken an actual game piece domino (not a bead or craft store domino) and created a very textural and lush finish with multiple paint layers, crackle medium and various glazes. There is a rich and glorious textural depth to my handpainting. The collaged image is from a collection created by the "Land of Enchantment" (an amazing artist! see her link to the left). I have added details along the edges and all the dots are painted with metallic leaf. The back side is as pretty as the front - so the pendant is reversible!
When the new day begins Lord, Your mercies are new again How my heart overflows with thanks to my King When the night closes in I'm so grateful You are my Friend You said that You'd never leave and Lord I believe -- Lord, I believe
All your promises are true I will lift up my eyes to You For You're all that I need And by faith I receive the wonderful things You will do. All your promises are true; I will lift up my eyes to You. When my heart starts to fail, Lord, Your strength will prevail, And all You have said You will do Your promises are true

Together in all these memories, I see your smile. All of the memories I hold dear. Darling you know I'll love you, Till the end of time. All of my memories keep you near In silent moments, Imagining you here. All of my memories keep you near, In silent whispers, silent tears.
Memories of growing up along the shore of Lake Erie ... my memories... perhaps you have some too. Vacations, times of solitude, picnics, simple play along the water's edge...For me it was and is always a hunt... the perfect piece of driftwood... smooth rocks to paint... and that elusive treasure called "beachglass". Early last fall while my Dad was still with us I found several pieces of glass I have since turned into pendants... Look around my shop for the various ways I have presented them. I hope you enjoy each and every one. May they bless your eyes and all who behold you,

Introducing a new series (otherwise known, in my case, as a rabbit trail) - of charmed jewelry. These necklaces are assemblages of found pieces and what-nots - mostly 'new', but sometimes 'old' mixed in as well.
I always wanted a charm bracelet as a little girl so now I find myself making charm necklaces - ala a little more luxurious :) The various price ranges within the series reflects the varying ingredients, weight, time, and aesthetic. I use new and vintage pieces, but be assured the pieces are silver plated, gold plated, non-lead, and even non-nickel. If, however, you have metal allergies and require pure, precious metals be cautious of these please. I often treat the pieces with stained glass solvents to add patina and age. They are endearing!
I hope you enjoy each and every one.
May they bless your eyes and all who behold you.

I have wrestled with whether or not I will be doing “live” art festivals in the upcoming months. Historically they have been a great boon for me, and I would expect success this year as well - but I will be blunt -- after just barely crawling out of a six-week illness (bronchitis, not the flu) I am not at all certain I can face sick buyers and germs “out there”...especially during a pandemic.
It is with this in mind (along with the great gas savings you could enjoy and the bonus of avoiding any crowd wrangling in chain stores and big box stores) I have decided that I will be holding my own OnLine Art Festivals this autumn… right in my shop.
I will be loading my Etsy Shop with all manner of gift giving goodness! Be patient - I have tons of yummy things… original paintings, greeting cards, painted wood, folk art driftwood, altered jewelry, assemblage art dolls to wear, brooches, necklaces, pendants … and that is just at blueyeduckstudios
Visit my son's shop - driftstudios - and you will find a different array of gifts for the ‘impossible to buy for person’ in your life: fabulous fine art photography!
Over at duckpuddle(my shop with Grandma) you can find whimsy to wear and luxurious hand made scarves!
So, hold on tight ... I will be featuring items from all three shops here over the next three months…
Please come back often - and visit our family of Etsy Shops...

If you gotta start somewhere why nothere? If you gotta start sometime why not now? If we gotta startsomewhere I say here. If we gotta start sometime I say now. Through the fog there is hope in the distance. From cathedrals to third world missions -Lovewill fall to theearth like a crashing wave...
~~~~~ GIVE - A - WAY ~~~~~
Just post a comment here. In two weeks (September 15th-ish) I will randomly pick a 'post~er' from a 'hat' and announce the winner here (at which time I will need said winner's mailing address). I hope you'll listen to Toby Mac's song while you're here. I have met him on three occasions - he is genuine.
Happy Picnic Day... a day to catch up on yard-work, eat way too many grilled goodies, gather to watch enormously expensive explosions...remember those gone and, hopefully, look ahead with hope.
Independence Day - 4th of July... Happy Birthday America...
Get to know who we are - where we came from - READ for yourselves.
Find a good history book.. I recommend, ironically enough written by a Brit, "A History of the American People" by Paul Johnson...
I Won't Back Down ~ Tom Petty with George Harrison, Jeff Lynn (ELO), Ringo
Well I wont back down, no I wont back down.
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I wont back down.
Gonna stand my ground, won't be turned around.
And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down.
Gonna stand my ground and I wont back down.
This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus. ~Revelation 14:12
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out.
Hey, uh huh, I will stand my ground.
And I wont back down.
Well I know what's right, I got just one life.
In a world that keeps on pushin' me around,
But I'll stand my ground and I wont back down.
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out.
I will stand my ground and I wont back down.
No, I wont back down.
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. ~ Hebrews 9:27-28
Another Work-in-progress from my series
TOM PETTY
25" square / acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
Quite a fun concert by the way - saw him last summer (in the rain) along with Steve Winwood. It was one giant sing-a-long. Petty's SuperBowl appearance (08) was one of the best in a long time - and he most definitely wins for "most improved" in the face department by sporting that new beard.
