Strollin' On the Water

The snow in our area is like sugar frosting... delightful for the eyes ~ wicked to drive in.

Water can be like that - lovely to behold, but dangerous for those who are not careful...or for those of little faith...

Bryan Duncan (see My Juke Box to the left to learn more about his music) paints a great picture in song with "Strollin' On The Water".

Open up my eyes, I pray Lord, for just a little glimpse of you ~ That's all I need, it's all I've ever needed ... to see beyond myself, beyond this tiny, little world. All your hands have made with beauty and strength alone ~ I can see you comin' to me now. Oh, like a shimmerin' light - Shimmerin' light on an open sea...Barefoot on the water - Laughin' at the ocean like you were old friends...Callin' out my name - Saying join me now!

Strollin' on the water... High over every care! Strollin' on the water ...Sinking no longer! Let me rise above the high tide... I can do it, I'll do it, yeah, I know where my strength comes from!

Help me cut these bonds where I keep my spirit tied all safe and dry...Safe and dry, but so afraid ~ let me come to you! Let me run to you with my heart still beating ~ Beating in my throat with my sweaty palms and mouth so dry ~ Shakin' 'til I can't stand still! All I'm askin' ... All I'm askin' is to let me cross that great divide between you and I. Only you can take me there ... So take me there, yeah!

Strollin' on the water... High over every care! Strollin' on the water ... Sinking no longer! Let me rise above the high tide I can do it, I'll do it, yeah, I know that you said, "follow me".

Just let the water flow - Let it go! Oh keep your eyes on me - Do you feel alive?Try turnin' circles, yeah - Bend your knees! And hold your hands up high - Can you feel the wind in your hair? With your eyes closed - Take a breath of fresh air! Feel the mist on your toes - Look where we are!

The thrill of knowing that complete TRUST is exhilerating. Peter was so thrilled to see the Lord and so exhilerated - he stepped out of the boat and was strollin on the water before he realized what he was doing and his doubt returned (even so, Jesus saved him)! I so want to be THAT thrilled and THAT exhilerated and THAT trusting I forget all my cares and just stroll! *

Featured Art: ATC (artist trading card) sized original watercolor and Ink (2.5" x 3.5") - in my eBay store now.

I Adore You

People sometimes have a “life song” or life poem, life scripture, life proverb… I can’t possibly have just one. I have several ‘life songs’ ... four in fact, but it could change.

“Take my Heart” by Phil Joel from his “Bring it on” CD.

“Jesus King of Angels” by Fernando Ortega (I love that Fernando has many songs were he wrestles in the dark of night with worry - and then works it out and puts it in song so I can find comfort). The words to this song fit around the entire top edge of our family room…I have mentally painted them there many times. They fit once around perfectly.
"A Heart Like Mine" by the peculiar & brilliant Brayn Duncan - who nails this song on all levels.

And the newest one…bumping another one out of the top-4 spot is by DownHere: “A Better Way”.

I will explore the themes deep in these songs as I BLAHg more in the future (oh oh we can‘t wait!).

For now, I need to add some art here…
This is a watercolor and ink “art squared” piece I did while listening to Phil Joel’s “I Adore You”.
Phil Joel was the base player for the Newsboys for over a decade. Just this year he turned a new corner, leaving the band, to devote himself to his family and ministry: “Deliberate People”.
Phil is one of my heroes (he adores his Lord and his wife… I love that).

“Disappointment cuts me like a knife, but I won't be afraid. Strange operations happen all around - the audience escapes unscathed. You are my fortress in the storm ~ I will cling to You like a sailor lost in the wind…It's all about turns; turn about face - it's all about knowing more of Your grace. I know now ~ You are my sure thing. You know my heart. You know my soul. You know my comings and goings - You know it all and I adore You.There are questions there's no doubt. I trust You - and that matters now. I, oh, I adore You! To the prisoner inside this mind of mine, You know, I only know so much. Still You and You alone have shown the lighthouse glow that leads me home again 'cause You are my sure thing. I will wait for You every moment of this life…Journey closer to be refined. I will trust in You far beyond this line of sight …Journey closer to be my guide” ~Phil Joel 2002

I will soon have note cards and tiny gift cards made with prints of this watercolor piece available in my eBay store.

The HeaLer

Psalm 103: 2-5 ~~ Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

I draw encouragement & hope when I read the Psalms. Oh, look, I made a spontaneous pun ("draw encouragement") ...

Ebay-land has many art discussion groups...one really positive one (if I do say so myself as founder) is CaaT (Complementary Art and Things). For 'kicks-n-giggles' we list according to themes at various times. We are currently running one beginning January 26th...

The Anonymous Snowman...

I was delighted to find a couple 'special' photos in an email from a friend this morning.

He explained that someone built an anonymous snowman on his front porch.

He just found it there - no explanation… no clues… just a snowman…

Years ago during one of my craft-frenzy phases around the Christmas season, I created “snowman kits” for special friends.

Hallmark had the most adorable little stuffed snowman character with a bucket on his head. He inspired me.
I made life-sized snowman accessories and filled a real galvanized pail and included the Hallmark fellow along with the ‘kit’ for creating a 'real' snowman.

Since Rob had a perfectly nekkid snowman ... an anonymous snowman at that, on his porch, he ‘dressed’ said snowman using the kit. I can't stop smiling.

ahhh….. the cycle of love… an anonymous snowmen… and really good friends…

...made to worship

I suggest to you that we all worship whether we realize it or not.
The object of our worship varies.
For me, worship is a place I can exist - not just an act I can perform.
It is that, too, but it is better and bigger when I exist there.
The love my heart experiences for my family and the awareness of who I am in God’s eyes creates in me the consciousness that I must worship or be empty.

The end results of my art expressions may not always look spiritual or seem to the observer that they came from a place of worship, but they most often have. Whether I am laying out a house design, or painting a tiny fish, my art happens through the process of worship while I pray for those who are hurting or ill ~ or while I am meditating on a lesson or seeking God’s face. Most frequently I am simply listening.

“Before the day, before the light - before the world revolved around the sun
God on high stepped down into time and wrote the story of His love for everyone
He has filled our hearts with wonder so that we always remember

You and I were made to worship ~ You and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free!
You and I embrace surrender ~ You and I choose to believe
You and I will see who we were meant to be

All we are and all we have
Is all a gift from God that we receive. Brought to life we open up our eyes to see the majesty and glory of the King
He has filled our hearts with wonder so that we always remember

You and I were made to worship ~ You and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free!
You and I embrace surrender ~ You and I choose to believe
You and I will see who we were meant to be

And even the rocks cry out and even the Heavens shout at the sound of His holy name
So let every voice sing out and let every knee bow down; He is worthy of all our praise

You and I were made to worship ~ You and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free!
You and I embrace surrender ~ You and I choose to believe
You and I will see who we were meant to be”
