FAITH ~ HOPE ~ LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:12-13

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Colossians 1:3-6

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints— the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel 6that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.

He was walking her home...

Singer ~ Songwriter Mark Schultz has been able to take me from “zero-to-fifty in 10 seconds” (crying, that is) ever since his hit “He’s My Son” and “Letters From War”.

(I’ll be blahg-ing about Letters from War asap).

“Walking Her Home” is yet another in the long list of real life events that this brilliant writer captures for us to experience in a few moments of time.

Please listen and expect to have your heart yanked on.

I was talking with my elderly parents who were worried about the lack of activity at an elderly friend’s home. They checked in on this guy to find he was “grounded” - his family had taken all his keys so he couldn’t drive. His wife is in assisted living. It is agonizing to see the circumstance. I don’t judge the family - they may be doing all they can. There is always more to a story than meets the eye in these situations.

BUT… One story - in song - that captures it sweetly - and that it isn’t dreadful - is Schultz’s “Walking Her Home".

Pay close attention to the final portion of the song as these two old saints face eternity together … and the sweetness that is promised when assurance of moving on into the presence of the Savior is in the heart of the believer.

Looking back - he sees it all It was her first date the night he came to call.

Her dad said, “son, have her home on time and promise me you’ll never leave her side”.

He took her to a show in town and he was ten feet off the ground …

He was walking her home and holding her hand. Oh the way she smiled it stole the breath right out of him. Down that old road with the stars up above... He remembers where he was the night he fell in love. He was walking her home

Ten more years and a waiting room - at half past one. And the doctor said come in and meet your son. His knees went weak when he saw his wife - she was smiling as she said he’s got your eyes. And as she slept he held her tight... His mind went back to that first night

He was walking her home and holding her hand. Oh the way she smiled it stole the breath right out of him. Down that old road with the stars up above He remembers where he was the night he fell in love. He was walking her home.

He walked her through the best days of her life. Sixty years together and he never left her side...

… A nursing home - At eighty-five And the doctor said “it could be her last night” ...And the nurse said “Oh Should we tell him now? Or should he wait until the morning to find out”. But when they checked her room that night - he was laying by her side...

Oh he was walking her HOME! And holding her hand... Oh the way she smiled when he said THIS IS NOT THE END ...And just for a while they were eighteen and she was still more beautiful to him than anything. He was walking her HOME

He was walking her HOME

Looking back - he sees it all It was her first date the night he came to call …

PS: I know the song inside and out - and it still rips my heart out from the bottom up as so many of Schultz’s songs do. I weep even when I KNOW what it coming. I have made it I practice to NOT listen to Mark Schultz while driving!
I salute the creator of this you tube excellent work - xo

John 6: 40 ~ For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 10: 27-29 ~ My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.

2 Peter 3: 13-14 ~ But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

Lord of the Rings

“Join the Cleveland Orchestra and the Blossom Festival Chorus for a musical journey into the realm of Middle-earth. This concert features Howard Shore's monumental, Grammy- and Academy Award-winning score from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Included will be original illustrations from Tolkien artists Alan Lee and John Howe, projected above the stage.”

What a perfect summer weekend! Along with some wonderful friends, their adult twin sons, daughter and her friend - my family spent an evening fully immersed in the music of Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings symphony… what a thrill to have the composer as the conductor of the world renowned, brilliant Cleveland Orchestra!

Of course, the company made it extra sweet - and this is one of those memories we will always treasure… thankful that some very special people took effort to plan and direct such a wonderful evening for us.

I am not even a novice when it comes to LOTR - I can’t claim even that much knowledge - but it mattered not! I was really captivated by the pencil sketches and nibbles of storyboards that were projected on large screens. The enjoyment and marvel was contagious as LOTR fans and 'regular' symphony goers communed under the stars to the beauty that is music. (You could tell the difference - some wore suits and some wore 'elf' hats - wink).

It was a bit of a journey to get to the beautiful grounds at Blossom. I hadn’t been there in ~ I won’t say how long!~ back when I spent long summer nights on the lawn listening to James Taylor every summer in high school…

New memories - sweet as summer … are always waiting to be born when friends give to friends… their time, their interests, pieces of their hearts.
I am so thankful.

Joy in the journey,
Katey-D

A Better Way

He is alive...now... redeeming those of us

who have opened our hearts to Him...

Some days I "get it" so deeply that

there are no more words...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Downhere - A Better WayFrom the album Wide Eyed and Mystified
I'm not alone, I really believe
You never go, You never leave
Here and now, You always stay
“I love you” could not be said a better way
It's everything You've promised
There's no greater love than this
From prophets until today
A man laying down His life for His friends
Your sacrifice has spoken,
You gave everything
And “I love you” could not be said a better way
I am forgiven, I clearly see
It's why You came to do all you did for me
Trading earth with heaven,
You took my place
“I love you” could not be said a better way
Because You redeem, I know what's to come
Everything I could lose here, You've already won
So You have my surrender, with passion obey
“I love you” could not be said a better way
Nibblefest Art Contest ~ NFAC is held on the 20th of every month for eBay artists. Today’s theme is POLKA DOTS and PLAID. Each artist interprets a theme however they wish - and each entry starts at only 99 cents!
The nibbling begins tonight (July 20th) ... Search NFAC on eBay… or click on the MY ART FOR SALE link over to your left. By the way: “nibbles” are bids!
I have been working on large canvas and drift wood most of the summer, painting bright and vibrant fish! It was easy to come up with my nibble this month as I am surrounded by all my other fish. This swankified lil guy measures 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches and was done in acrylics on canvas paper. It is ARTIST TRADING CARD size (think baseball cards - only… art).
AMaZiNG LoVE (how can it be?)
(please play music during blog visit)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This series of art was inspired by some misunderstood kids I know - and by the song AMAZING LOVE. The lyrics are below. The youtube video is here for the song - so you can think about it as you listen and look around.

The Bible teaches us not to judge hypocritically

... but to judge according to truth.

I walk among these kids who are often judged wrongly to be "evil" based solely on their clothing or their hair.

I hope this inspires any one who might look at our youth harshly, or in fear - based only on outward appearances...to look again. If we throw away these kids because we are uncomfortable- then the very evils they have been wrongly accused of may be their only refuge.

Maybe their dark clothes or hair style isn't 'my thing' - but maybe my thing is not 'their thing' either.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
~ Matthew 7: 1-5 ~

AMAZING LOVE

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken. I’m accepted, You were condemned. I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me because You died and rose again.

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken. I’m accepted, You were condemned. I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me because You died and rose again.

Amazing love, how can it be that You, my King, would die for me? Amazing love, I know it’s true - It’s my joy to honor You. In all I do, To honor You.

BAROCHA

The Barocha,
an Old Testament blessing,

goes like this:

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace."

Numbers 24: 25-26

Listen to the American Boys Choir sing this as you enjoy my simple art today.

(joyful music to play as you look around)

Psalm 139:13-17

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

Proverbs 3:7-9

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Proverbs 15:29-31

The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

Proverbs 16:23-25

A wise man's heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Kinda geeky - kinda nerdy - kinda sweet
Enjoy...the sand...

my Garden

~~~
Good Morning...
Welcome to my garden.
~~~
Join me in a quick walk...

~~~
~ the words to my mother's favorite hymn ~
I come to the garden alone while the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
~~~
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
~~~
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
~~~
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
~~~
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
~~~
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

THe TiME iS NoW

It seems that my Apologizing to Vincent entry struck a lovely chord inside many hearts (neato frito). See the entry HERE . That is always the intention, but has nothing to do with me. Blogs are wonderful that way - they are there if you care to look - and if you don’t care to look - you simply don’t. Those who do look might learn something new about themselves. (again, neato frito). That is certainly an amazing thing. In any case - I have been touched by the large number of readers and responders... which, again, has nothing to do with me. (megalicious neato frito with dip).

I am impressed at the lengths non-account bloggers go to get messages to me and I am thankful! I am also extremely thankful (as if thankfulness has degrees) to the four blogs that featured my Vincent entry. It meant that the message of self-examination, forgiveness, and seeking the Truth (and nothing but the Truth) was seen by many more than I imagined ~ AND hurting hearts found a small measure of comfort, ~ AND hearts that saw themselves in the entry were moved to evaluate their own part in the drama of life, ~AND lost hearts were welcomed, again, to a safe place.

Because I felt my own heartstrings tugged on by Vincent’s life situation (obviously), I thought I’d feature a piece of my own altered art that showcases Van Gogh's face and his art (along with other art & artists) …

This piece is sold, but I have intentions of creating another somewhat like it one day soon. I cleaned my studio ~~ for a party - to ease the embarrassment of my family ~~ and now it's like I have all new "stuff" to play with!

We close our eyes and wonder how much longer the earth can hold the tears of all its children. We wonder what became of Eden while we live in the garden we have grown. But there will be hope when we finally understand we were never meant to make it on our own.

The time is now to hear the call. From the Father of creation comes an answer for us all.
The time is here. The time for you. If you seek, then you will find Him and the moment that you do ~ Seal your heart with a sacred vow. The time is now.

We look ahead and try to face the future, but find we have no heart for this tomorrow. There is a vision that is brighter and if we will believe, it’s not too late. For every decision becomes a destination and today we face a choice that cannot wait.

The time is now to hear the call. From the Father of creation comes an answer for us all.
The time is here. The time for you. If you seek, then you will find Him and the moment that you do ~ Seal your heart with a sacred vow. The time is now.

Now is the time and today is the day. Now is the time and we cannot delay. This is the moment and this is the place for the mercy, the power, the love, and the grace.

The time is now to hear the call. From the Father of creation comes an answer for us all.
The time is here. The time for you. If you seek, then you will find Him and the moment that you do ~ Seal your heart with a sacred vow. The time is now.

The time is now. The time is now. Now is the time and today is the day. Now is the time and we cannot delay. Now is the time....
