Lord of the Rings

“Join the Cleveland Orchestra and the Blossom Festival Chorus for a musical journey into the realm of Middle-earth. This concert features Howard Shore's monumental, Grammy- and Academy Award-winning score from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Included will be original illustrations from Tolkien artists Alan Lee and John Howe, projected above the stage.”

What a perfect summer weekend! Along with some wonderful friends, their adult twin sons, daughter and her friend - my family spent an evening fully immersed in the music of Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings symphony… what a thrill to have the composer as the conductor of the world renowned, brilliant Cleveland Orchestra!

Of course, the company made it extra sweet - and this is one of those memories we will always treasure… thankful that some very special people took effort to plan and direct such a wonderful evening for us.

I am not even a novice when it comes to LOTR - I can’t claim even that much knowledge - but it mattered not! I was really captivated by the pencil sketches and nibbles of storyboards that were projected on large screens. The enjoyment and marvel was contagious as LOTR fans and 'regular' symphony goers communed under the stars to the beauty that is music. (You could tell the difference - some wore suits and some wore 'elf' hats - wink).

It was a bit of a journey to get to the beautiful grounds at Blossom. I hadn’t been there in ~ I won’t say how long!~ back when I spent long summer nights on the lawn listening to James Taylor every summer in high school…

New memories - sweet as summer … are always waiting to be born when friends give to friends… their time, their interests, pieces of their hearts.
I am so thankful.

Joy in the journey,
Katey-D
