SLOW FADE

There is nothing profound I can say to all the ones I know who are hurting and torn apart - or are grieving the loss of a loved one or of love itself... except to say I understand - in my own way - in my own world. I dig deeply into Scriptures for comfort - for Truth. It is like the pilot who has to fly in IFR conditions (using instruments because it is impossible to see anything in the real world). I trust in the Truth of the Scriptures when I am flying 'blind'. When nothing in my real world lines up - the Scriptures are still True to set my paths straight ~ to keep me flying level.

Mother & Son - Acrylic on Canvas

Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day

The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies [sons, daughters, moms, friends] never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day
Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

Slow Fade - Casting Crowns

"There are six things which the LORD hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers. My son, observe the commandment of your father and do not forsake the teaching of your mother; bind them continually on your heart; tie them around your neck. "

It is impossibly painful to watch someone you love be deceived and fill with a growing blindness.

It is impossibly painful to watch a friend endure crushing pain and weakness and endure an illness with no cure.

It is impossibly painful to experience rejection, disrespect, and rebellion.

It is impossibly painful to witness friends or loved ones walk down a dangerous path.

It is impossibly painful to see friends hurt by the world.

I do believe in the Sovereignty of God - that He does not let anything happen without it first passing through His hands... and so, as Job said and lived: "Though he slay me, yet will I hope in Him".

I hold out that same hope for all those I love... near and far ~ xo

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation"

"From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? "

~

"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you."

The Prodigal Son

And He said, "A man had two sons.
"The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me
the share of the estate that falls to me ' So he divided his
wealth between them.
"And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living.
"Now when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he began to be impoverished.
"So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
"And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him.
"But when he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger!
'I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight;
I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men."'
"So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and
embraced him and kissed him.
"And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
"But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly bring out
the best robe and put it on him, and
put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;
and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate;
for this son of mine was
dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate.
"Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.
"And he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be.
"And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has received him back safe and sound.'
"But he became angry and was not willing to go in; and his father came out and began pleading with him.
"But he answered and said to his father, 'Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours; and yet you have never given me a young goat, so that I might celebrate with my friends;
but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your
wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.'
"And he said to him, 'Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours.
'But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was
dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.'"

An art friend posted THE most encouraging and honest comment on an art forum in regard to this blog entry -- I was so touched I am quoting her here (and SHE knows of that which she speaks!)

"Katey, life is harder when you feel deeply, have a strong sense of justice, and care about others. But as you know, it is also much richer. ((((((Hugs)))))) "

PS to nic2415 - I have a bunch of backed-up blog entries that wouldn't post for the longest tiime - and when I edited them recently - they posted :) So - there is the answer to your mystery! xo

"Am I blacking out and losing time? Because I stop by here all the time to see if you updated and the last one was 12-18.
Now there's two new ones. Maybe I hit a time warp.
